In My Room is about my existential thoughts, you guessed it — in my room! Here, I share my ideas and questions about identity, personal style, relationships, and mental health. I’m taking these thoughts and putting them online so that maybe someone somewhere in their room feels a little less lonely on their journey, too.
For years, autumn has been my favorite season. I love layering and dressing for colder weather. My favorite holiday happens in the fall (Halloween, duh) and I just like the overall crisp and deliciousness in the air. Autumn will continue to be a season I look forward to; however, I’ve recently fallen in love with spring.
Last spring symbolized a season of new beginnings. I moved into my first solo apartment, started taking anxiety medication, and became a dog mom. So I’ve decided that moving forward, I’m going to lean into nature’s calendar and look at spring as the start of the year. I mean it just makes sense. Winter is a time meant for rest and reflection. There was even a time long, long ago, when March was the first month of the year.
Anyway, all this is to say that now that spring has sprung, I feel a natural sense of excitement. I’m happy to see the sun come out again and the smell of blooming flowers. I feel more inclined to go outside and have a motivation to get shit done. And the best part is that none of it feels forced.
Here are some goals/intentions I want to set for the ~new year~:
Spend more time outside/in nature
Read more (books, articles, newsletters, etc.)
Prioritize my newsletter and write more consistently
Gas myself up every day (daily self-love affirmations)
Movement (gym, walks, or simply stretching)
Take care of my body, mind, and soul by doing the above
I hope this serves as a reminder that you can start over or change your mind whenever you want. I know that there will be days when I slip up. I don’t expect perfection nor do I want it. I just want to prove that I can be consistent while giving myself grace and self-compassion. I hope you do too.
happy spring, lovelies <3
